Environmental Initiatives
Cabot’s future and future generations
For both Cabot’s future and future generations, it is integral for us to sustainably manage the land, water, wildlife, and other natural resources in every area where we live, work, and play.
We are very proud and honoured that both Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs have been designated as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. Recognized for their environmental stewardship by Audubon International, they are two of three golf courses in Nova Scotia, and 890 in the world, to hold the title of Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
To achieve the certification, courses must undergo a rigorous certification program and maintain a high standard of environmental quality in:
Environmental Planning
Wildlife & Habitat Management
Outreach & Education
Chemical Use Reduction & Safety
Water Conservation
Water Quality Management
Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program
The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, endorsed by the United States Golf Association, provides information and guidance to help golf courses preserve and enhance wildlife habitat and protect natural resources. Golf courses from Canada, the United States, Africa, Australia, Central America, Europe, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia have achieved certification in the program.
We also implement many green initiatives in our Cabot Links accommodations, including:
Benjamin Moore low-VOC paint finishes
ENERGY STAR-rated appliances (in Golf Villas)
ENERGY STAR-rated windows
Programmable thermostats
High-efficiency shower heads
Low-flow faucets and eco-flush toilets
Low irrigation landscaping
